Three Alabama Players Named Freshman All-SEC
Terrion Arnold, Tyler Booker, and Jaheim Oatis were honored Thursday as part of the 2022 Freshman All-SEC Team.
Despite this season being his second with Alabama, Arnold was recognized as a freshman, having been redshirted in 2021. Booker and Oatis played significant roles as true freshmen, competing and rotating with starters.
Arnold played safety in high school and converted to play cornerback at Alabama. He earned a starting job to start the season opposite Kool Aid McKinstry. Arnold recorded 34 tackles and an interception on the year.
Booker stepped on to campus regarded as one of the top offensive linemen in the 2022 recruiting class. His versatility was highly touted, playing tackle at IMG Academy. In his freshman season at Alabama, Booker frequently rotated at guard with Javion Cohen and Emil Ekiyor.
People questioned if Oatis could play in college as he arrived in Tuscaloosa weighing around 410 pounds. By the start of the season, Oatis had lost 70 pounds and has lost ten more pounds throughout the year.
Oatis shared the starting defensive tackle position with senior DJ Dale. This season, Oatis recorded 27 tackles and one sack.
