The next month of football doesn't get any easier for Alabama, as three of the next four games are on the road against Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss.

Sandwiched in between the Tennessee game and the bye week is a home game against No.16 Mississippi State. It will be a night game in Tuscaloosa, as the two teams kick off at 6 P.M. CT on ESPN.

Mississippi State has had a very successful first half of the season, displaying a 5-1 record. Despite sitting in fourth place in the SEC West, they have quality wins over Texas A&M and Arkansas. Their only loss came in week three on the road in Baton Rouge.

In his third year at Mississippi State, Mike Leach is off to his best start of the season. In the first six games of the 2020 season, the Bulldogs were 2-4 and in 2021 they started off 3-3.

A major reason for Mississippi State's hot start is due to the success of the air raid offense. Quarterback Will Rogers leads the nation with 2,110 passing yards and is second in touchdowns. Despite throwing 47 passes a game, Rogers is the most accurate quarterback in the SEC, completing over 71% of his passes.

This will be the fourth night game in Tuscaloosa this year. Since they were incepted in 2019, a large part of the Bryant-Denny atmosphere has been the red LED lightshow.

This is the first time in four years that Alabama has faced a ranked Mississippi State team. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 16 in 2018, but Alabama came out on top with a 24-0 win.

Before they face off in under two weeks, both teams have road top 25 matchups. Mississippi State travels to Lexington to take on No. 22 Kentucky, while Alabama travels to Knoxville to face undefeated, No. 6 Tennessee.
