Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick Suffers Injury on Vacation
It looks like Pittsburgh Steelers all-pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick won’t be starting training camp on time with the rest of his team.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back will start the Steelers training camp on the NFI (non-football injury) list after suffering a wrist injury. The injury came after a bike crash while on vacation.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that the team does not think Fitzpatrick’s injury is anything serious, just “some discomfort” and not a long-term problem.
After hearing the way Fitzpatrick suffered the injury, some users on Twitter jokingly compared the biking accident to the one that President Joe Biden had towards the end of June.
This news piles on to the already busy offseason that Fitzpatrick has had so far. The two-time pro bowler signed a four-year, $73.6 million contract extension last month making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
Fitzpatrick also made the news after a viral tweet from a woman unknowingly playing pickleball with some Steelers players, one of whom being the star free safety.
Nevertheless, Fitzpatrick will miss a short amount of time but is expected to be ready to go for the start of the NFL season.
