I have a confession to make. I once used a family member's Netflix account password at some point because I didn't want to pay for the streaming service myself. Whew. Feels good to get that off my chest. We had a good run but when that person decided they just didn't watch enough, they canceled it, and my free ride ended. I had to get my own account.

However, I know I'm not the only one who did it. Some still are, and Netflix is well aware of that. Thus, they announced earlier this year that they would start cracking down on password sharing. Check out this stat, according to research company Leichtman Research group,

they surveyed more than 4,000 U.S. households and found that 33% of them share Netflix with people outside their home.

If you didn't think you would be found out, think again! I mean, speaking from former experience, it's not even worth it. I found out real quick that depending on how many people you share your password with or someone shares with you, you may never get to watch at all. It poses a problem when several people want to watch simultaneously. Netflix only allows for a certain number of screens to watch at the same time.
So what is Netflix going to do about password sharing now? I sure will tell you.

AS EARLY AS NEXT YEAR, NETFLIX WILL BEGIN CHARGING SUBSCRIBERS AN EXTRA FEE FOR SHARING A NETFLIX ACCOUNT.

Netflix has not yet announced how much extra it will charge for additional users. However, the streaming giant said that the cost of each additional user will very likely be based on the price of the initial account. Like which tier do you have, basically?

If you are currently sharing Netflix passwords, you might reconsider before that extra charge starts hitting your bank account!
