Jalen Hurts’ legs have remained a crucial competent of his game as he developed as a passer. He used his legs to get into the end zone twice, both times running a quarterback sneak from 1-yard away, setting a new NFL record for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in his first 25 career starts with 19. Cam Newton previously owned the record.

He is second only to Lamar Jackson in NFL history for quarterback rushing yards during that time period (1,322). Hurts has been getting the job done on both the ground and in the air. The third-year quarterback is the only player in NFL history to average 250 pass yards per game and 50 rush yards per game through 5 games in back-to-back seasons.

After a close 20-17 victory in Arizona, the Eagles are still the only unbeaten team in football. Philadelphia is now 5-0 for the first time since 2004, the same year they reached the Super Bowl.

“We’re 5-0. It’s good to be 5-0 and advancing with a win. 1-0 this week", Hurts said after the game.

Hurts completed 26-of-36 passes for 239 yards and no interceptions on Sunday. He added 15 carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts became the sixth quarterback in team history to throw 35 passes in a game and complete at least 72% of his passes without an interception. He orchestrated a 17-play drive that took 7:58 off the clock and led to a Cameron Dicker field goal with 1:45 left to give the Eagles a 20-17 lead.

Through the first quarter of the season, the 24-year-old quarterback has been outstanding. His passer rating, yards per completion, and completion % are all higher than they were a year ago.

The Eagles will square off with the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday, Oct. 16 in Philadelphia. Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. CT and air on NBC.
