Barring some sort of injury or collapse, Behren Morton probably won't play this season. He's third on the depth chart behind both Tyler Shough and Henry Colombi. Not because of talent, just because Matt Wells has opted for experience when choosing his starting quarterbacks in the past and I don't see that changing.

That doesn't hurt Morton's marketability though with a strong social media presence and being billed the quarterback of the future at Texas Tech, Morton has plenty to capitalize on. With the new NIL capabilities for these collegiate athletes that marketability has never meant more.

Tyler Shough and Kevin McCullar were the first Texas Tech athletes to jump at the opportunity to make money on their images by joining the Cameo app to offer shoutouts to fans for a modest fee. Morton has taken a different approach and released his own merch line under the name Money Man.

You can see the whole line of apparel here.

Morton has the benefit, theoretically, of building his brand for an entire year before having to play meaningful football for Texas Tech. Though, Alan Bowman was never expected to play as a true freshman and entered the first game of his college season midway through the first quarter.

Either way, Morton is being forward-thinking here with a line of merch that creates his persona before he ever steps on the field for Texas Tech. The number 2 and Money Man nickname along with the animated silhouette of Morton doing the money hand sign does bear striking resemblance to Johnny "Money" Manziel.

The Money Man logo is also pulling double duty here by being similar to both Texas Tech and his high school uniform at Eastland. Much closer to the Red Raiders, but the Maverick's fans of Morton could certainly claim an Eastland bias as well.
