The announcement is a formality after Max Lefevre moved on to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, but Texas Tech's Chris Beard has hired Bob Donewald Jr. as the new Director of Player of Development.

Bob Donewald Jr. has an interesting resume. It's similar to Chris Beards in some ways if you look at the number of stops and the grinding nature of the tenures. Donewald has been all over the world coaching basketball including stops in England, China and Russia. Including a run coaching the Chinese National team. His coaching stops haven't all been international though, he's also spent time in the NBA as an assistant and assistant general manager.

"It's a really exciting opportunity for me to be a part of the Texas Tech program," Donewald said. "I've been around the world coaching against the best and I think Chris Beard is one of the best out there. It's a great position for me to learn from and help support him."

When you look at Donewald as the Director of Player Development the resume is striking. You want to play in the NBA? He's been there. Europe? He's been there too. You want to play in China? He's got connections. Not only the connections, Donewald knows what it takes to turn these young men into professional basketball players.

"This program has done a lot of great things and I'm looking forward to being a part of it," Donewald said. "I've been lucky to have a lot of experiences coaching throughout the world and I think I've learned some things that I think I can share and utilize that can help our program. I'm going to use this experience to learn from Beard and the great coaching staff he already has. I can't wait to dive in."

Another homerun hire for Chris Beard and the Texas Tech athletic department.
