Texas Tech Defensive Lineman Medically Retires From Football

Lonzell Gilmore flashed as a Red Raider several times and looked poised to break out a few seasons ago. Since then, Gilmore has missed spring practices, fall camps and multiple games due to injuries.

After finally getting healthy and playing against a few conference foes this season, Gilmore suffered another injury.

Texas Tech Head Coach Matt Wells confirmed the news during the Big 12 conference call this week.

After news broke, Gilmore took to Twitter to explain the situation and thank former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who recruited him, and Coach Wells for what he's done in the last several months since taking over.
