Patrick Mahomes welcomed his second child and first son into the world earlier this week and his name wasn't much of a surprise. Patrick Lavon Mahomes III. The name started with Patrick's Dad, went to him, and then on to Mahomes son.

On Twitter, Mahomes introduced his son with the nickname 'Bronze'.

The former Texas Tech quarterback said he always intended to give his name to his son, but he expected a different nickname to follow based on the III at the end of the name. It was actually his little brother Jackson who chimed in with the new name.

“I always thought [his nickname] was going to be ‘Tre’ as the third. You hear a lot of people doing that. My brother Jackson (Mahomes), whenever we were trying to find something that was a little unique and different, he said, ‘What about Bronze? It fits perfectly with Sterling.’ So we went with that.”

Bronze and Sterling is a dynamic sibling name duo. Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, named their first child Sterling. Sterling was born in February 2021.

Mahomes also talked about how emotional his own father was that he was continuing the line of Patrick Lavon Mahomes to another generation.

The youngest Mahomes certainly has some great genes with Mahomes and Brittany, a collegiate athlete in her own right.

Mahomes will now have to face being a new father to two young children while preparing for NFL teams in a stretch run to the NFL Playoffs.
