With Spring football just around the corner, Texas Tech football and head coach Matt Wells needed to complete their staff after making changes this offseason. To finish off the staff Wells has hired Derek Jones to coach the secondary and Kevin Cosgrove to coach the linebackers.

Derek Jones comes from Duke where he's spent the last 12 years leading the Blue Devils to one of the most successful runs in their history with head coach David Cutcliffe. Jones will also be the associate head coach and co-defensive coordinator in Lubbock.

Jones loves the hashtag #AP2W which stands for always play to win and he's always talking about being a cheetah which translates to playing fast on the field. He takes the cheetah thing very seriously.

Coach Cosgrove joins the Red Raiders from his latest stop with LSU as a defensive analyst. He's been coaching for at the collegiate level for 40 years and has more than a decade of experience as a defensive coordinator at various stops including Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Coach Wells was obviously looking for experienced coaches to round out his staff and has hired three ex-coordinators now this offseason with Todd Orlando only lasting a few weeks. 2020 will be a pivotal season for the Red Raiders football program and they'll need the experience to translate onto the field.
