Luke Siegel of Team Luke Hope For Minds has Passed Away
The thoughts and prayers flooded in today after the announcement that Luke Siegel had passed away after complications of COVID pneumonia after the terrible news was made on the Pray for Luke Facebook page.
In July of 2015, when Luke was 9 years old, he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a golf cart accident. Since then, his dad Tim Siegel and the Siegel family have done amazing work by creating Team Luke Hope for Minds. The organization based on Luke's injury has helped numerous kids and families by "Enriching the lives of children impacted by a brain injury and giving hope to their families through support and education."
Team Luke's website cites the Center for Head Injury Services in saying that 1 in 500 school-age children each year receive some kind of head injury severe enough to be hospitalized, and many families are forced to pay for medical care on their own.
Since its inception, Team Luke Hope for Minds and Luke have received enormous support from both Drew Brees, former New Orleans Saints Quarterback, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and former Red Raider Patrick Mahomes. The latter wears a Team Luke bracelet in every game he plays. The Texas Tech athletics department has also supported the Siegel family in many ways in the last six years.
You can donate in Lukes's memory at the Team Luke Hope for Minds website. You can also send messages of condolence and support for the Siegel family at the Pray For Luke Siegel Facebook page.
