For most Americans living in Midland-Odessa, Independence Day is a big deal.  It's a dedicated time of year where we pay homage to the independence of the United States, all while honoring those who paid the ultimate price for defending it.

Odessa's VFW Post 4372

The local VFW in Odessa is also planning on making the upcoming holiday extra special for locals, veterans, and their families.  They are planning their own festivities, which include a fireworks show, free food, drinks, and even a slip & slide that the children can enjoy to escape the blistering heat in West Texas.  However, the main attraction of the event will be that they will be giving away 100 bicycles to children ages 2 - 12.

This is not the first time the VFW Post 4372 has thrown this event.  This is an annual event that is only possible through the combined effort of support from local donations and volunteers.  Since its inception, this has become quite the tradition in Odessa, Texas.

100 Bicycle Giveaway

The VFW Post 4372 is celebrating the Fourth of July with a giveaway.  They plan on giving away 100 bicycles to children ranging from ages 2 - 12.  Dubbed "Lite-A-Bike", this is a gesture of love, respect, and community involvement.
