Rain Couldn’t Stop Red Dirt Festival in The Basin For Long
A spring day in the Basin turned into a weather-charged music marathon as storms rolled through the Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival. What started under cool, calm skies quickly turned into a day of BBQ, live music, and unpredictable Texas weather.

Crowds Fill The Basin for BBQ and Live Music
As the gates opened on Saturday around noon, VIPs entered first, sampling all the great BBQ. General admission crowds made their way through the gates, ready to stuff themselves silly with food and enjoy some good music with Mike Chism. By 3 pm Mike Chism and Hollow Point were on stage and the music was in full swing.
Storm Clouds Roll In and Shift the Entire Festival
The next round of crowds began lining up at the gate for the concert portion of the event. The weather decided to shift as dark clouds moved in, bringing lightning, and their performance was cut short. A rain delay was called, and concertgoers were asked to go to their vehicles for safety.
Music Returns in a Rain-Soaked Texas Night
After a two-hour delay, the event reopened at 5:40 pm. Unfortunately, due to the rain delay, Jesse Joe and the 96ers were unable to play. Wade Bowen hit the stage at 6 pm, followed by Whiskey Myers around 7:30 pm. The rain continued throughout both performances, but the crowd stayed.
Dancing in the Rain at The Basin Festival
Couples danced in the rain, while others were hunkered down under umbrellas or stood in their ponchos and rain coats. Others just stood under the rain getting wet, enjoying the live music.
We captured as many moments as possible throughout the day.

In the end, while Mother Nature ran the weather, the Basin Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival still delivered a night full of unforgettable, rain-soaked memories.
