Texas Heart Pond Goes Viral For Unique Shape & Story
A Lubbock pond is getting some attention and going viral because of the unique shape it has. The story behind it is just as good though.
If you go to Google and use the coordinates, 33°26'49.5"N 101°59'55.8"W, a heart-shaped pond will be shown on Google Maps, shown above. This is located in Lubbock off Woodrow Road.
The pond is named "Cupid's Pond" and the idea came from Pinterest.
The owners moved into that home back in 2016 and they wanted to have a pond in their backyard. That's when they hopped on Pinterest and got the idea to make it heart-shaped.
The couple reached out to David Richards, an excavator from Childress, to help with the project. They later met with an architect to help create the fishing docks that resemble an arrow.
At night you can even see it light up the sky which is a neat added touch.
The pond has even been a venue for proposals and parties here in Lubbock.
A Google Earth image of the pond was posted on the Facebook page “Google Earth, Structures and Anomalies” and garnered more than 3,000 social media interactions.
In the coming years, the owners plan to add a slip-and-slide and a zipline to the pond to add some fun for the summer.
