Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe Faces Financial Challenges
The once highly popular restaurant chain is going through a difficult time. Like many other local and national chains, it’s struggling with stable or increased revenue. With the rising cost of menu ingredients and customer dining habits dramatically changing, the restaurant industry is going through a major change. This presents a challenge not only for locally owned small-business restaurants to stay afloat, but also for big chains. Razzoo's Cajun Cafe restaurants recently closed four of its underperforming locations, then on Wednesday, October 1, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to documents that were filed in Addison, Texas.

While many companies prefer not to go into bankruptcy, this filing allows the company to remain open and conduct business as usual as it goes through a restructuring period with hopes of emerging as a leaner, more profitable operation. Philip Parsons, Razzoo's CEO, said in the bankruptcy filing that as shifts happen among consumer spending and dining preferences,
The (Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe's) sales have continued to be unfavorable to forecasts in light of the heavy competition among casual dining chains to attract consumers searching for the best value to fit their strained budgets."

After closing restaurants in Corpus Christi, Pasadena, and Oklahoma City in 2025 and an additional location in 2024, the financial landscape still looked unforgiving. Razzoo's Cajun Cafe continues to operate 20 locations, 19 in Texas and one in North Carolina, during this bankruptcy proceeding. The Razzoo's location in Tyler remains open, according to the company's website.
