The network announced that the game, held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, would kick off at 6:30 p.m. CST.

Many of the previous national championship games have kicked off at 7:00 p.m. CST or later, making it a long Monday night for east coast viewers. Last year's national championship matchup between two east coast teams in Alabama and Georgia kicked off at 7:15 p.m. CST.

Will this 45-minute difference increase ratings that haven't been so high in the past few years?

It is still early in the season, but many teams are fighting to be at SoFi Stadium in early January. Current contenders for the playoff include teams such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan.
