The Latest on Ex-New York Knick Amar'e Stoudemire's Arrest

A report from ESPN detailed the events that led to the arrest, and subsequent charging, of 15-year NBA veteran, Amar'e Stoudemire. The retired pro player currently lives in Miami, where he last played in the NBA, with his family.

Unfortunately, the troubling report told us that Stoudemire was arrested because of an incident involving family, and specifically, his daughters.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, in the home of Stoudemire and his family. The report states that one of his two daughters was being disrespectful to his mother while on a phone call, and her father stepped in to address it.

When the child denied that she was behaving in such a way, Stoudemire then struck her, allegedly punching her in the jaw, leaving her bleeding. The daughter then called her mother, who is the ex-wife of Amar'e Stoudemire, who picked all of the children up and took them away from the home.

The police were called, Stoudemire was arrested early Sunday, and is now faced with misdemeanor battery charge. He was released on bond, but is not allowed to contact his daughters for the time being.

In response to the arrest and the subsequent reports on the situation, Stoudemire posted this to his Instagram page:
