You Can Watch Texas Tech Baseball at Dan Law Field This Week
The last time Texas Tech baseball was playing legitimate games they were falling in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament last year. Since then, they've gone through quite the roster turnover with starting pitchers, longtime infielders, and a former Big 12 player of the year moving on to bigger and better.
Bigger and better being professional opportunities, of course.
The Red Raiders still have plenty returning though with Hudson White and Owen Washburn looking to capitalize on great freshman seasons. There are also plenty of arms returning, but those do not include the starting rotation that closed out 2022 really strong with Brandon Birdsell, Andrew Morris, and Chase Hampton all getting drafted.
If you're like me and wondering who might even be on the roster this upcoming year, you're in luck. The Red and Black series is coming with three games scheduled this week.
Game one will be on October 27th with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 pm. The game is opened to the public and free of charge. If you think you'll be lost with not knowing any players beyond the few returners, no fear, there will be rosters at the door.
The 28th will be the same first pitch time and follow the same protocol as far as being open and free. The Baseball team will then take Saturday off to presumably attend the Texas Tech football game against Baylor before getting back on the diamond on Sunday afternoon with a 2:00 pm first pitch.
Texas Tech baseball has been doing these Red Black scrimmages for a long time and you can always be entertained, even if you don't learn too much with the intrasquad nature of the contests.
