Women’s Day For The New York Mets Has A Unique Sound
Wednesday afternoon, the New York Mets hosted their first-ever Women's Day. There were pre-game panel discussions featuring women executives from team's front office, as well as the wife of a well-known pitcher. The Mets players got into the action wearing special pre-game shirts that "Women in Baseball" on the back. Even the ballpark sound was different at Citi Field on Wednesday afternoon, as 13 players changed their "walk-up music" to celebrate women. See which players danced to new tunes!

As reported by Mark W. Sanchez of nypost.com, Queens native Olivia Pichardo, a pitcher on the 2022 Women’s National Baseball Team, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Mets Manager Buck Showalter talked to nypost.com about celebrating women in sports. “It means a lot to me and our organization...we’ve won games this year I think sometimes [because of] contributions we’ve had from people in the organization that happen to be women." What about the walk-up songs! According to Mark W. Sanchez, these Mets changed their tune on Wednesday.
Pete Alonso: “Edge of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks
Mark Canha: “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette
Eduardo Escobar: “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” by Beyoncé
Luis Guillorme: “Juice” by Lizzo
Francisco Lindor: “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs
Starling Marte: “Inolvidable” by Jenni Rivera
James McCann: “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton and “Wannabe” by Spice Girls
Jeff McNeil: “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff

Brandon Nimmo: “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” by Shania Twain
Darin Ruf: “We R Who We R” by Kesha
And of course, fan favorite Daniel Vogelbach picked “Milkshake” by Kelis
That is a pretty cool list. As Mark W. Sanchez reported in The Post that prior to the Mets 10-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, women from the Mets front office hosted a discussion panel. Director of Major League Operations, Elizabeth Benn; Director of Revenue Innovation & Strategy, Janaki Cash; Executive Director of Broadcasting & Special Events, Lorraine Hamilton; Vice President of Ballpark Operations, Sue Lucchi and Erica Scherzer, Max’s wife made up the pre-game panel. The discussion was hosted by Mets in-game personality Emily Reppert. Cool event and well done by the Mets.
