The vacant lot that used to be the Kent Kwik on Loop 250 and Midkiff is finally coming together, but what will it be?

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, that construction going on next to McDonald's on Loop 250 and Midkiff will be the newest location of Raising Cane's.

Officials with Raising Cane's kept it hush-hush about their location until construction started on Loop 250 and Midkiff.

Now it is revealed that the location of the old Kent Kwik will be the new location of the second Raising Cane's in Midland.

The new restaurant is anticipated to be opening in early 2023.

Raising Cane's had a rocky start getting off the ground when founder Todd Graves proposed the idea of a chicken finger restaurant in a college business class and got the worst grade on his project and the banks did not believe in the idea either.

So he took jobs as a boilermaker at a refinery and a commercial fisherman fishing for Sockeye Salmon in Alaska.

When he returned to Louisiana he had enough money to start the first Raising Cane's restaurant at the entrance of LSU by renovating an old building.

During the renovation, they found a mural on one of the walls of the old building which gave him the inspiration for the Raising Cane's logo.

That first restaurant opened in 1996 and took off really quickly meaning they had to stay open till 3:30 am to serve all the customers.

The new location in Midland will probably be as busy but it will not be staying open till 3:30 am.
