The Permian Basin Has a New Buc-ee’s Near Marathon
We have all been wanting a Buc-ee's here in West Texas and now we have one just outside of Marathon.
According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, sorry to tell you, but it is a miniature Buc-ee's kind of reminiscent of the Prada Marfa so you will want to get a selfie there.
The tiny structure has the classic Buc-ee's signage and it actually takes you back to the now-demolished Marathon Tiny Target. The Tiny Target first appeared in 2016 in what many called a clever response to the Prada Marfa not too far away.
San Antonio-based artist Matt Tumlinson posted pictures of the Mini Buc-ee's over the weekend. Tumlinson is best known for his collaborations with Lone Star and his mural work in the San Antonio area.
Tumlinson claims he has no affiliation with the project but his post did have a wink on it, so who knows, I think he had something to do with it.
Tumlinson says the Tiny Buc-ee's can be found on U.S. Highway 90 just 20 miles east of Marathon on the way to Sanderson.
Even though you may not be able to get any Beaver Nuggets or any of the other signature snacks provided by Buc-ee's, you can definitely get a selfie with the Tiny Buc-ee's.
I don't know about you, but I am all for getting a picture with it and then traveling to Prada Marfa as well and making a day trip out of it.
The only bad thing is, I will probably have to drive to the closest Buc-ee's hundreds of miles away so I can get those coveted Beaver Nuggets and get myself a giant Dr. Pepper too.
