We had to road trip to Dallas this past weekend to take our dog to see a specialist vet in Lewisville Texas... So while we were there, we decided to try something that wasn't a typical chain restaurant and was unique to the area. Since the relatives we stayed with live in Coppell (and I also discovered I've been pronouncing the name of this town wrong my entire life--the accent is on the second syllable, not the first. So it's "cop-PELL", not "COP-pell"), we thought we'd head down the street a bit from their house and see what we could find.

Low and behold--J. Macklin's Grill. The official address is 130 N. Denton Tap Road #120, Coppell TX 75019--in case you wanna go. Everyone in the family is covered here. There's something for everyone. The kid's menu has more than just a burger, hot dog, or chicken strips on it. There's also Mac and Cheese, and grilled cheese too. Plenty of great appetizers and the main entrees include some really great salads. I had the Cobb Salad, my wife had the French Dip. But there are plenty of choices including chicken, burgers, steaks, tacos, and seafood including salmon and panko-crusted flounder.

They also serve great beverages for all ages--my wife had sweet tea, I tried the Peach Bellini.

There's also great outdoor seating, so when the weather is nice during the day like it was over Christmas weekend-we had to take advantage and sit outside.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.

LOOK: Food history from the year you were born
