New Yorkers May Have To Listen To Judge’s Historic Home Run
Aaron Judge is on the verge of making history. New York Yankees fans have been enjoying most every minute of his incredible run. Yes Network, the television home of the Bronx Bombers, is enjoying their best Yankees viewership in 11 years. Now, it helps when your team wins almost every game for the first 3 months of the season but having your star outfielder chase legends like Babe Ruth and Roger Maris doesn't hurt either.
However, if any of #99's history happens on Friday, many Yankees will be on the outside looking, rather listening in. According to Andrew Marchand of nypost.com, unless you have Apple TV+, you'll have to tune into 104.5FM The Team to hear the Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox. There will be nothing wrong with hearing a John Sterling signature call for any of Judge's next 3 home runs. Each will be historic in its own right. However, most Yankees fans, if possible, would like to watch each game and witness the history for themselves. Maybe Major League Baseball will do the right thing and move the game to FOX or back to YES to give more fans the opportunity to see it?

MLB certainly knows the significance of the biggest story in all of baseball. However, according to Marchand, commissioner Rob Manfred's office says the league plans to keep the game on the streaming service. Apple TV+ games are free to everyone via the streaming service. All you have to do is download the app. Well Rob, that is easier said than done for some of the older generation that actually saw Roger Maris play and remember his record 61 home runs in 1961. Fans of the team want to hear the Yankees announcers, like Michael Kay, David Cone and Paul O'Neil call this historic moment.
As of now, the fans that are able to access Apple TV+ and avoid the myriad of problems the service has had this year, will get to listen to Stephen Nelson, Hunter Pence and Katie Nolan make the call, if Judge ties or passes either Ruth or Maris. This is nothing new really. Back in 1974, Henry Aaron hit his 715th home run on a nationally televised game that was moved from the Braves local network. Oh yeah, that was so the entire nation could easily enjoy the historic event. Once again an easy pop-fly dropped by the commissioner.
