Every Wednesday we feature a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin from Lonestar Sanctuary For Animals. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, or snakes---yet. But you never know!

Meet Benny!

He is a 10-month-old male grey tabby cat who is ready to find is forever home!  Benny has been neutered and is up to date on all of his vaccines and is microchipped.  Like most cats, Benny is a little shy when he meets new people.  Once he is comfortable is when he comes out of his shell and you see his true personality!  Benny is a very playful and loving cat.  He is easily engaged with a wand toy and is very sweet and social!  Benny has not been around dogs before so we aren't sure how he would do in a house with a dog.  If Benny sounds like the cat you have been looking for, make sure to come see him on Saturday when the cat area of the Sanctuary re-opens!  You can also see their new building and Domino's will be selling their $5 pizzas in the parking lot from 1-4:30 pm.  Half of the proceeds from the pizza sale will do to support the animals at the Sanctuary!

Once home, remember the rule of three: three days to decompress, three weeks to get used to your routine and home, and three months to feel completely at home.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
