This is not a drill, and this is not a joke: Metallica is coming to Lubbock.

Metallica will play the United Supermarkets Arena on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019.

That's a long way to wait, but you'll need to get on the stick and get tickets as soon as possible. General sales begin this weekend, but we'll send out a special FMX presale code for listeners who have our free app (make sure the push notifications are turned ON) or are signed up for our newsletter this Thursday (March 1) for a 9 a.m. presale.

This show is "An Evening With Metallica," and comedian Jim Breuer will be hosting. With Metallica shows, the sets generally go from two to two-and-a-half hours, so trust me when I tell you that you'll be worn out with just one band.

The last time Metallica played Lubbock was September 4, 2004, so by the time this show rolls around, it will have been over 15 years since they've visited Lubbock. It's expected that this show will be recorded for sale at a later date, too.

FMX is your Metallica concert station, and we'll have some exclusive Metallica giveaways and experiences. WE ARE PUMPED. Make you grab up our station app (it's free!) and become a member of the FMX Bomb Squad VIP club. We hope to have opportunities for both, but be smart -- buy tickets as soon as you can, and try to win some better ones later on. Don't miss this show.

In celebration of the show, FMX will feature Metallica at the top of the hour, every hour, around the clock (with the exception of Loudwire Nights, which already has Mission Metallica every night). And this Saturday night, Wes Nessman's Big Rock Radio Show will expand its regular "Mandatory Metallica" to bring you the entire Dallas 2017 live show, commercial-free.

This is it, Lubbock. You wanted different shows. You wanted bigger shows. Step the hell up and get some Metallica in 2019.
