January 6th: How Do People Feel About it One Year Later?
One year after the attack on the Capitol, Americans are still split over who is to blame for the attack.
A new poll shows that there are as many people who blame Former President Donald Trump for the insurrection as there are that say he is not to blame for the attack.
The poll conducted by YouGov shows 51% say Trump deserves at least part of the blame for the insurrection while 39% say he deserves little or no blame for the January 6th insurrection.
The people came from all over the country as Trump had asked them to do because it would be "wild" as he stated.
That turned out to be an understatement as millions of dollars worth of damage was done to the Capitol that day and numerous injuries were sustained by police who were trying to keep the mob at bay while getting delayed help from the National Guard.
The poll also showed that Democrats were more likely to recall where they were than Republicans by 76 to 52% and 50% of Democrats said they watched many hours of the live coverage while only 21% of Republicans said the same thing.
The events of that day are still under investigation by the Justice Department and the House Select Committee and according to CNBC it is the largest criminal probe in U.S. history.
More than 725 people have been arrested or charged with crimes resulting from the insurrection on January 6, 2021, as well as many lawsuits pending accusing Trump and his allies of being responsible for the attack on the Capitol.
