Lorena is officially a hurricane and her impact on Texas will be substantial, even way over in the Desert Southwest.

Hurricane Lorena is expected to make landfall near Baja California but the strength of the storm is going to "push moisture", as the weather peeps say, into the Southwest and as far as Central Texas.

El Paso will get a taste too but (probably) not enough to worry about. Arizona has cause to worry though and New Mexico may take a hit as well ....

Mexico is really taking the worst of Hurricane Lorena but parts of southern Arizona may see 1 - 3 inches of rain, some areas may get 4". Flash flood warnings there are already in effect.

What About Texas?

A surge of moisture from this system is expected to move into Texas by Sunday and Monday, Sept. 8 and 9, 2025. This is something folks in central and south Texas need to keep an eye on because this system can fuel heavy rain in the Texas Hill Country, a region affected by the July 4 floods. Some areas can receive 2-5” of accumulated rainfall through next Monday afternoon in central and south Texas. - khou

What About El Paso?

According to this forecast map, El Paso has a pretty good chance of getting some rain action out of this but nothing tooo crazy. The (somewhat) isolated, heavy rains and flooding we've had in the 915 lately were probably worse than what this will bring.

Keep your eyes open though ... except for "hot" in summer and "windy" in spring; El Paso weather is never exactly predictable.
