Many own pets in the state of Texas. Whatever the pet may be, it takes time for them to find their perfect home. For one dog named Diamond in Killeen, her journey to the home that was just right for her took a little bit longer than expected.

Diamond's Journey To Her Forever Home In Killeen

As reported by FOX 44, Diamond was first taken in by Killeen Animal Services in 2023. She was taken in by the organization because she was a reported stray. Thankfully, her owners made their way to the building and picked up Diamond. But, two years later, things looked bleak for Diamond.

Diamond returned to the shelter in 2025, only this time, Diamond was pregnant with puppies and her owners nowhere to be found. With Diamond set to give birth soon, time was ticking to make sure Diamond had her puppies and they were also healthy too.

Killeen Animal Services was able to help Diamond give birth to ten puppies, but sadly four passed away. Diamond's story seemed to heading towards a sad end, until another animal service in Texas stepped in to assist.

Diamond Finds Her Forever Home In Texas

FOX 44 revealed that due to issues with shelters around the Killeen area, the Austin Humane Society took Diamond and her puppies in for care. The six puppies that Diamond gave birth too were taken to their forever homes, but Diamond was still stuck at the shelther.

But, when AHS held a “Rags to Wags” occasion, one family spotted Diamond when she was featured. And finally, in November of 2025, Diamond was taken in by a family who love her completely, as they said Diamond's “the sweetest and most perfect dog we could have asked for."

How wonderful that Diamond found her forever home!
