Texas Teacher of the Year Arrested on Child Porn Charges
They say sending our kids to school is safe in Texas, and for the most part, we parents believe that. The majority of students will experience a safe experience throughout their schooling, but some will not.
We hear about the school shootings that happen, and the fact that the kids come home and talk about how they have drills similar to fire drills to be ready should there be a shooter is a bit concerning, but at least they're learning how to be safe should that happen.
Teachers Are Supposed To Guide Them
Don't get me wrong, there are SO many teachers out there who are in it for all the right reasons. These people want to help grow these kids, give them the knowledge they need to succeed in life, and be able to make something of themselves.
Sadly, there are some who either go in with the wrong intentions or get caught up in something they shouldn't. Another one we've heard a lot of over the last few years is inappropriate relationships between teachers.
Former Elementary Teacher Arrested For Child Porn
Some of the scariest things we hear about, though, are when teachers get busted for possessing child porn. We worry that it could be pictures of our kids they have, or they're manipulating our children into doing things. It's even scarier when it's happening at elementary schools.
A former Teacher of the Year in the Dumas ISD is facing federal charges for possession of child porn. Robby Mason was indicted on Wednesday, and according to the indictment, Mason "did knowingly possess at least one image of child pornography that involved a child under the age of 12."
Authorities are holding him at the Randall County Jail and have seized multiple electronics, including two iPhones, three laptops, an iPad, and a USB storage device.
