
Deputy-Involved Shooting Leaves One Hospitalized in Lubbock County
What Happened on Highway 87
This morning, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a person armed with a gun in the 9100 block of the Highway 87 access road. Around 10:50 a.m., deputies located the individual. According to officials, the suspect aimed a handgun at deputies, and that’s when one deputy fired, striking the armed person.
Life-Threatening Injuries Reported
Emergency Medical Services were immediately requested, and deputies on scene provided aid until EMS arrived. The suspect was then transported to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that one other person was checked out by EMS at the scene, but no injuries were reported for that individual.

Investigation Underway
Per protocol, the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation into the shooting. The deputy who discharged their weapon has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure following these types of incidents.
