These 10 Intersections Make Driving In Tyler A Daily Challenge
(Tyler, Texas) Driving in Tyler, Texas, requires a lot of patience. Those who drive in Tyler regularly are accustomed to driving in morning and afternoon traffic on the commute, stop and go, and then having to wait through a couple of light cycles, sometimes, just to turn left; it's just the nature of Tyler's road infrastructure. Unlike Longview, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, or Texarkana, Tyler doesn’t have bridges or overpasses on its main arteries.
Tyler’s Lack of Bridges Makes Driving a Challenge
The lack of fly-overs and exits causes huge headaches and backups around Tyler's Loop 323 and along South Broadway Avenue. One intersection, though, will eventually see some relief — Grande Blvd. and Old Jacksonville Highway — where TXDOT plans to add an overpass within the next 5–10 years. This particular intersection will receive a bridge for Old Jacksonville over Grande when the expansion project eventually gets underway.

Relief Coming at Grande and Old Jacksonville
Many Tyler drivers wish bridges and exits had been included in the original plans for both Loop 323 and Broadway. Now there's no room for expansion, and we're forced to sit through traffic lights. I, for one, wish TXDOT would have included a bridge in the plans for the intersection of Loop 323 and Old Jacksonville for the expansion project. I can only imagine how backed up traffic is going to be at this intersection within the next decade.
