Car Thief Killed After Texas Owner Tracks Down His Truck
A Texas man shot and killed the criminal who stole his truck.
TRACKING DOWN A STOLEN VEHICLE
A man in San Antonio was the victim of car theft. The owner of a stolen truck managed to track down his vehicle at the South Park Mall in San Antonio, Texas.
The truck owner spotted a man and woman inside his truck at the mall parking lot. With a gun in his hand, the owner confronted the two thieves and ordered them to get out of his vehicle.
THE CONFRONTATION SPIRALS OUT OF CONTROL
The owner then called the police and planned to wait until they arrived at the scene. However, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, things took a sudden turn. “As they were waiting for police to arrive, the suspect who was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle produced a handgun and shot the owner of the vehicle,” McManus said.
POLICE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS
The owner was injured but managed to return fire, killing the man in the driver's seat, and hitting the woman in the passenger seat. McManus said “We would prefer that call the police before taking that into your own hands but he did what he felt that he needed to do," noting that the man had a right to get his property back but taking justice into your own hands is certainly not recommended.
The woman in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital in critical condition while the owner suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
