Wichita Falls Elementary Schools to Get Book Vending Machines
Wichita Falls kids can start getting rewarded with tokens that can be exchanged for free books that they get to keep.
Awesome news for Wichita Falls kids as two book vending machines are being installed at local elementary schools. If you have never seen one of these before, they have been installed all over the country. It works like your standard snack machine, but instead of chips, you get a book.
Example of Book Vending Machine at Another School
Students will have the opportunity to earn tokens throughout the school year. If they receive one, they put it in the machine and trade it for a book that they can keep forever. Thanks to Atmos Energy, two of these will be installed this month in Wichita Falls.
Booker T. Washington and Scotland Park are the Lucky Recipients
For any parents with kids enrolled at Booker T. Washington or Scotland Park. After October 15th, your kids can start earning tokens for the book vending machine. According to KFDX, a special ribbon cutting will be taking place that day once they're officially installed.

“The WFISD Foundation is proud to partner with Atmos Energy in sponsoring this project, ensuring students across Wichita Falls ISD gain greater access to books and opportunities to grow as readers,” Nikki Davis, Executive Director of WFISD Foundation Inc.
Do Book Vending Machines Work?
Many wonder what's the point of these vending machines if the kids can just go to the library and get any book they want. According to a study, these vending machines work like a reward system for a child. Plus having a book that they get to pick out themselves and keep forever is a nice goal to set throughout the school year.
