Texas: Check Your Freezer For Recalled Ice Cream With Potential Choking Hazard

Ice cream is the perfect dessert, especially as it heats up here in Texas. However, one flavor you definitely don't want to try is Plastic Chunk.

Recently, several varieties of ice cream have been recalled due to a manufacturing defect that possibly left pieces of plastic in the ice cream, presenting a choking hazard.

What Brand Of Ice Cream Was Recalled In April / May 2025?

According to Yahoo! News, the company that makes Blue Bunny and Halo Top ice cream issued the voluntary recall. The recall affects nearly 18,000 tubs of ice cream, so the odds that you or someone you know bought a container are not unlikely.

The recall is of 3-gallon tubs of ice cream flavors and frozen yogurt.

Twenty-two flavors are under the recall, including: Rocky Road, Mocha Almond Fudge, Peanut Butter 'N Fudge, Country Rich Vanilla Ice Cream, Scooper Hero Ice Cream, Cotton Candy, and several other flavors, according the the FDA.

Think you may have a recalled ice cream, check the Best If Used By date first. If it falls between  March 2026 to October 2026, follow up by checking lot numbers on the FDA website, and if it's a recalled product, do NOT consume it.

Was Recalled Ice Cream Sent To Texas?

The recalled ice cream was sent nationwide, including distribution centers in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, and many more- over 100 in total.
