Is It Illegal To Drive Barefoot In Texas This Summer? Flip Flops?

It's another hot summer in Texas. Time to kick off the heavy shoes and bring out the sandals, flip flops or heck just go barefoot? But, let's say your at home by the pool, or just kicking it in the front yard barefoot and you decide you want to drive and pick up your friend in your car. Do you need to put shoes on? Can you drive without shoes? Can you drive barefoot legally?

IS IT A MYTH THAT YOU CAN NOT DRIVE BAREFOOT?

I'm not sure who told me. Was it my dad when I was learning how to drive? Was it my mom, my cousin, my older brotherr? Was it the driver's ed instructor? Why is it that I feel it's WRONG or illegal to drive barefoot? DId you evr hear this? Is it just a myth that's handed down form generation to generation? So, what's the law when it comes to driving barefoot in Texas?

IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO DRIVE BAREFOOT IN TEXAS!

there is NO STATE LAW that says you can not drive barefoot.

Surprisingly, this is a myth and there are no state laws that forbid it. Even more shockingly, there are no laws in any state in the U.S. that makes it illegal to drive barefoot. There is also no federal law against it.

This means that you can feel free to drive without shoes if you prefer it. However, there are still some things to know about barefoot driving safety and possible repercussions if you do decide to kick off your shoes and drive barefoot.

WHAT ABOUT DRIVING WITH FLIP FLOP OR SANDALS?

Yep, same deal. There is no law against driving with flip flops or sandals as well. But, flip flops have been cited as a problem with accidents in the past and some people even feel it's worse to drive with flip flops rather than barefoot. But it is not ILLEGAL IN TEXAS to drive with flip flops or sandals.

SAFETY IS KEY AND IT'S RECOMMENDED NOT TO DRIVE IN FLIP FLOPS OR BAREFOOT!

Although it is not illegal to drive barefoot or with flip flops,it is recommended not to do it due to safety. As always, SAFETY should be your #1 concern when deciding to drive barefoot, with sandals or flip flops!
