Heartbreaking! Dad Of Slain Uvalde Student Shares How He Learned His Daughter Had Been Killed

Tuesday the hearts of everyone were torn apart as we learned a gunman entered Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, and opened fire killing 19 innocent helpless children and 2 adults. We are now learning more about the situation as it unfolded. We have learned about the border patrol agent who heard the call and stormed into the building and shot and killed the gunman while being shot himself. Now we are learning more about the victims and their families.

Ten-year-old Amerie Jo Garza was one of the 19 children killed during the shooting. Her father was one of the first responders on the scene helping another little girl when he learned his daughter had been killed. A little girl exited the building covered in blood and hysterical,  he rushed to help her, thinking she had been shot and when he asked her if she was shot and she said no her best friend had been killed. When he asked what her best friend's name was she told him Amerie. She said Amerie was trying to call the cops and the gunman shot and killed her.  Anderson Cooper from CNN interviewed Amerie's father, who is obviously devasted, confused as to why this happened, and heartbroken.

On May 24, 2022, the shooter and his 66-year-old grandmother had an argument at their home in Uvalde over him not graduating, during which he shot her in the forehead before taking her truck.She survived and sought help from neighbors while police were called. She was then airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio in critical condition. Using his Facebook account, the perpetrator sent three private messages to a 15-year-old girl from Germany he had met online prior to the shooting: once to say that he was going to shoot his grandmother; another time to say that he had shot his grandmother; and about 15 minutes before the school shooting to say that he was going to open fire at an elementary school.A spokesperson for Meta said the posts were "private one-to-one text messages" discovered after the shooting took place.

The shooter, who was not being pursued by police at the time, then crashed his grandmother's truck through a barricade and into a concrete ditch outside of Robb Elementary School.According to police, he was wearing a plate carrier—a type of tactical vest—without body-armor plates inside, a backpack, and all-black clothing while carrying a handgun, an AR-15 style rifle, and high-capacity magazines. A witness said he first fired at two people at a nearby funeral home, both of whom escaped uninjured. Afterward, he dropped a black bag with the ammunition inside and ventured further into the school. Soon after, police-reported receiving 9-1-1 calls about a vehicle having  crashed near the school and a person armed with a rifle who had been seen heading inside. The shooter walked into the school through its south entrance at around 11:30 a.m.
