Did Jahmi’us Ramsey Just Say Goodbye to Texas Tech
There are a lot of unknowns in the sports world right now with COVID-19 being a driving factor in the canceling every major sporting event in the month of March and beyond. That included the Big 12 basketball tournament and the NCAA Tournament.
All of those cancellations also cast doubt onto the roster sizes and availability of the 2020-2021 winter sports rosters. With that doubt and uncertainty in mind, did Jahmi'us Ramsey just allude him heading to the NBA Draft?
It was always assumed the freshman phenom would be a one-and-done, but with the finish of the season, the Big 12 freshman of the year might want to stick around for a chance to play in the NCAA tournament, something every young basketball player dreams of.
Armchair coaches across twitter hounded Ramsey at the end of the regular season because of a few off games, but there's no doubt Ramsey would be a first-round pick in the NBA draft, whenever that might happen. Potentially even a lottery pick. He's 6'4" with a vast offensive skillset and off the charts athleticism which would make an NBA team dream about his potential, and in today's NBA it's not outrageous to see a star in the making head to the burgeoning G League which is truly turning into a minor league system for the NBA more than ever before.
That's not to say Ramsey leaving is a done deal. His high school teammate Micah Peavy is heading to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are poised to be absolutely stacked in 2021 with a real shot at a deep run in the NCAA tournament, something Ramsey couldn't take part in this season.
What do you think? Is Ramsey returning to be a Red Raider next season?
