After a wild card one-and-done weekend in the playoffs, rumors are now swirling around the DFW area that Mike McCarthy could be let go.

Dallas Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said in a press conference after Dallas' Sunday loss to the San Francisco 49ers that he was "confident" McCarthy would be returning as head coach of the Cowboys in 2022.

But with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn being sought after for other head coach vacancies around the league, could that possibly cause owner Jerry Jones to pull the plug on the McCarthy era?

Sportswriters all over the country and especially in the Dallas area are saying that upper management is definitely fond of Dan Quinn and they don't want to see him leave for another team, so they could wave the head coaching carrot in front of him to keep him in Dallas.

Dan Quinn was fired from the Atlanta Falcons after week 5 of the 2020 season which Quinn has said was not a good feeling, but would he accept the head coaching offer from Dallas since they had the best year defensively that they have had in many years?

Some Dallas fans are hoping for such a scenario, I am of the opinion that after a Super Bowl win with the Green Bay Packers, maybe McCarthy might not need to be exiled already, but Dan Quinn is a good coach and with the weapons in Dallas that he has, maybe a head coaching job would be just what the Cowboys need to once again put them in the Super Bowl.

We will have to see what will happen as the weeks progress in the playoffs and into the offseason.
