Baker Mayfield threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson with 10 seconds to play to cap a 98-yard drive, in the Los Angeles Rams shocking 17-16 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Rams made the move Tuesday to add Mayfield, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft by Cleveland. Mayfield was released by the Panthers on Monday at his request after seven disappointing games with Carolina.

Mayfield ranks last in the NFL in Total QBR among qualified quarterbacks with a rating of 18.2.

The Saints were embarrassed by the Panthers, 22-14, in a game where the offense was completely out of sync and mistakes were abundant.

The three NFL teams that had been the models of stability at quarterback have new signal-callers in 2022.

The reason why we added Baker is to make the group better as a whole," Fitterer said Tuesday during a media availability to introduce Mayfield.

The No. 1 overall pick in 2018, Mayfield was traded Wednesday by the Browns, who moved on from the divisive quarterback months ago and finally sent him to the Carolina Panthers for a future draft pick.

The Red Raider faithful really let Baker Mayfield have it. And he loved it.
