The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl this year. In February of 2020. It seems like years ago, but it really was just seven months ago that Patrick Mahomes was hoisting both the Super Bowl trophy and Super Bowl MVP trophy. On Tuesday night the Kansas City Chiefs had a ring ceremony where Mahomes and his teamate received their Super Bowl rings.

The below video offers a closer look at the rings, which feature plenty of diamonds and gems on the face. The ring also highlights 1969 and 2019, the years the Chiefs won their two championships, on one side, while the other side features the player's name.

The inside of the ring is engraved with the scores of each game, along with how much the Chiefs were down in each game: 24 points against the Texans before the comeback, and 10 points down to both the Titans and the 49ers before eventually winning the AFC championship game and the Super Bowl, respectively.

The Chiefs had every player on the field, socially distanced, and had them all open their rings at the same time.

Here's Patrick Mahomes' reaction:

What we didn't know at the time, but found out soon after, is that before Mahomes received his Super Bowl ring, he gave his high school sweetheart an engagement ring in one of the luxury suites at Arrowhead Stadium. It was decked out in flowers and a sign that read: "Will you marry me?".

His girlfriend, I mean fiance, Brittany Matthews documented the event on her instagram.

The Mahomes/Matthews romance began in high school and continued when Mahomes came to Texas Tech to play football, and Matthews went to UT Tyler to play soccer. Both had success on the field and apparently as a long-distance couple.

Matthews commented on the engagement on her Twitter page, saying, "On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us It’s always us, it’s always you & me, the words you looked into my eyes and said to me, will NEVER leave my mind! You made this day perfect, you took my entire breathe away! I LOVE YOU"

ESPN highlighted the couple on their Instagram page and highlighted a closeup of Matthew's new ring.

After the proposal news broke, even the Kansas City mayor congratulated the couple, calling them the Royal family of KC:
