Fall is here and it's about the time of year when you can feel the cold creeping in early in the morning. The cold has not settled in West Texas but with the weather being so bi-polar out here we never truly know when the cold will come knocking on our door. It's a good thing we know how to prepare for the winter beforehand. Here is a list of how us West Texans survive the winter days.

4. THE ONE COAT

Indeed, our winters aren't very harsh but it does get chilly for us West Texans who are used to 100-degree weather. If you look in our closets we will have plenty of long-sleeved shirts or light zip-up jackets. Then comes the 5 days in the winter when we have to pull out THE COAT. This coat for over 5 years and it's the only heavy jacket we own.

3. MENUDO

Nothing beats the chill than a hot bowl of menudo. Hungover because the cold won't stop the fun, menudo! Got sick because you didn't let the cold stop the fun, menudo! Little Edgar hit a home run while it was below 60, menudo! Honestly, we will use any reason to eat a bowl of menudo.

2. HOPES AND PRAYERS

Every year I see articles on how to prepare kits for your car in case of an emergency during the winter days, or what to keep in your house in case you are stuck during the winter. Most of us have made it this far with hopes and prayers. If a big freeze does happen, we know exactly what to do first, buy all the toilet paper!

1. WE DON'T

One takeaway note from this is that we don't. Ask us what chasers we have for tequila and we have a variety. Ask us what precautions we have for winter, and we will pull out the tequila and our one heavy coat.
