KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS

Before you head out to trick or treat in your neighborhood, make sure to check out the Texas Public Offender Registry. A map will show every registered offender in your neighborhood.

MAKE THE KIDDOS GLOW

If your children's costumes aren't brightly colored or lit up, add something that gives off light or something reflective to their costumes.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY NUMBER

Some kids may be a little too young for this one but if you can make sure your kid knows your phone number by memory and if there is an emergency call 911.

STAY OFF THE STREETS

Encourage your kiddo to walk on sidewalks and if they need to cross the street have them use the crosswalks.

CHECK THE CANDY

Check the kids' candy before they start eating their Halloween treats and never eat any candy with an open wrapper or without one.

DO NOT GO INSIDE A HOUSE

Talk about only visiting houses that are well-lit and not going into a stranger's house to get candy.

Even if you plan on being with your kids during their trick-or-treat activities, it's always better to be over-prepared than to not be at all.
