Don’t Get Caught Off Guard! Thanksgiving Day Closures in the Permian Basin

Thanksgiving is here! Much prep work is involved in deciding which family members will bring what dish or what family games will be played. Any holiday that involves me eating myself into a coma, I'm usually thinking about months in advance.

I have always felt bad for the people who had to work on Thanksgiving. In high school, my best friend worked at Mervyns in the Music City Mall in Odessa. Even though she loved her job, she hated having to go to work on Thanksgiving. They had the workers coming in to prep for Black Friday. Even though she got to spend most of the day with her family, it's always a bummer to leave during the holiday celebrations.

Now that I have to adult, I have had to host plenty of Thanksgiving dinners at my house. No matter how much I try to prep and buy everything in advance, I still forget something. It can feel overwhelming having to stop what you are doing to pick up something you forgot. What's even worse is driving to a major retailer and they are closed.

So you don't have to make an unnecessary drive, here is a small list of major retailers that will be closed during Thanksgiving:

• TARGET

• WALMART

• BEST BUY

• ACADEMY

• JC PENNY

So whether you were going to do some early Black Friday shopping or just forgot to buy the stuffing for dinner, you will have to find somewhere different than these major retailers. Don't panic though! H-E-B will be open until noon.
