City officials tried to make haste in finding out the cause and even offered relief by giving away free water around the community.  It was eventually realized that an invasive "Zebra Mussel" species was the culprit of the mishap that was invading the Midland Water Treatment Plant.  Since then, the city has been proactive to resolving the water pressure issue and taking steps to make sure this does not happen again.

Cold Or Room Temperature Water

Depending on whom you ask, there is a debate about what temperature water should be consumed. Some people prefer cold water versus room-temperature water and vice versa. But which is better for you? Obviously, this boils down to personal preference.  Lets break down the benefits.

Cold Water

  • Cools down the body from overheating. This is ideal in hot weather or when heart rate is accelerated.
  • Improves Metabolism. The body slightly uses energy digesting colder water, so in the smallest sense, it helps with metabolism.
  • Awakens and alerts. A jolt of cold water can awaken the mind and the body.

Room Temperature

  • Hydrates more efficiently. This is due because the body does not have to use energy to warm the water up during digestion.
  • Better for digestion. Colder water can constrict muscles in the digestive tract while room temperature water can relax them. This makes it better for digestion.
  • Slightly Increase Circulation. Room temperature water can help widen blood vessels, thus improving circulation better.

Regardless of which side of the fence you fall on, the important thing to note is the importance of drinking clean, unaltered H2O if possible.
