Central Texas AirFest: A Spectacle of Aviation and Community Spirit
The 2025 Central Texas AirFest took off at Temple this past weekend, providing all things aviation and fun for the family at Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport. Presented by Texell Credit Union, the two-day event welcomed many families from throughout Central Texas and had everything including air shows with bands, exhibits, and hands-on experiences.
80s Vibes & Drone Light Magic ✨
The festival opened Friday at 6:30 p.m. with the Twilight Airshow, which lasted until 9:00 p.m. As dusk began, performers dazzled the crowd with aerobatic and exciting stunt flying. With names like Go EZ Aerobatics in a 1986 Rutan Long-EZ and the Trojan Phlyers with their 1958 North American T-28Cs, the awesomeness seemed limitless.
Saturday's Action-Packed Air Displays
After the last plane left the sky on Friday evening, the entertainment continued with The Spazmatics bringing the energy playing 80's songs. Just a few minutes past 10:15 p.m., guests enjoyed an exciting drone show taking off with bright, twinkling lights moving in synchronized dance as they turned the night sky into the dancing lights, which concluded around 10:30 p.m. On Saturday, the festival opened at 1:00 p.m. and by 1:30 p.m. an action packed afternoon of air shows began and lasted till 4:00 p.m.
️ Amazing Aircraft on the Ground
There was a demonstration dive by the Army's All Airborne Battalion, precision acrobatics flown in formation by the NextGen Eagles in 1982 Christen Eagle IIs and fast-paced flying demonstrations by Fighterjets, Inc., flying their MiG-17s. In addition to the exciting air shows, there was an array of static aircraft displays, a Kid Zone, food trucks, and vendor booths to further ensure that all ages had something fun to experience.
Fun for All Ages at the Kid Zone & More!
With an exciting slate of aviation entertainment and activities that spur community building, the Central Texas AirFest created a mark as a significant event on the calendar that families can look forward every year. Festival organizers and families are excited to be a part of next year's event!
