Students at a high school in Killeen, Texas has emergency personnel called after they were suspected to have consumed items with THC in them. How did this happen? Here's what is known at the time of writing.

Early Details Of The Situation At Shoemaker High School In Killeen

According to FOX 44, on Monday, October 6th, 2025, parents of students at Shoemaker High School received this message from the Principal of the school, Mary Lynn Gawryszewski:

"Dear Shoemaker High School Families,
Earlier today, emergency medical services responded to our campus for several students who became ill after consuming an unknown substance believed to be an edible. We hope they make a full and speedy recovery. The situation will be handled in accordance with Killeen ISD’s Student Code of Conduct and district policy. For privacy reasons, no personal or medical details will be shared."

The total number of students affected was seven. Where the students obtained the substance isn't known at the time of writing. But, conversations should be had about the potential dangers of eating an unknown item.

Gawryszewski also said to parents in the email the following:

"THC edibles often look like regular snacks, and their effects can be delayed or stronger than expected. If you ever suspect a medical emergency, please call 911."
