Texas is a big state full of large cities and very small towns.  The population of Texas is over 31 million people and 18% of those people are children.

With that many children within the state Texas should be on top of children's well-being.  Unfortunately, a new study shows that Texas is failing when it comes to Children's Healthcare.

Why is Texas One of the Worst for Children's Healthcare?

In a WalletHub study of 51 states, including DC, Texas ranked 50th for children's healthcare and had the highest percentage of uninsured children, landing at 51st place.

Over 11% of children in Texas are uninsured.  According to Texas Care for Children, 47% of those uninsured children are eligible for Medicaid or Chip.

Why Aren't Parents Applying for Medicaid or Chip or Using Private Insurance in Texas?

Many reasons these children stay uninsured are the difficulty of applying for and being accepted for Medicaid or Chip.  Other reasons include, making just above the limit for Medicaid or Chip and private insurance is too expensive.

Texas is home to one of the best pediatric children's hospitals in the country, Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.

Hopefully, soon we'll see a total overhaul of all health insurance, and insurance in general.  It shouldn't cost so much to stay alive.
