Rockrose Sports Park Finally Breaks Ground in Amarillo
Two years ago, the project was conceptualized and put out to Amarillo. Excitement levels were high for what it could mean to the city...but the wrinkle was that it needed to be done on donations and grants, as tax money wouldn't be used on this project.
That project? Rockrose Sports Park. Multiple fields for baseball & softball, soccer, and football, fully turfed and a state-of-the-art complex. Those like me who have kids playing sports were over the moon for a place like this. Then, the months and years began to pass, and the complex still felt forever away from being built.

Groundbreaking Is Now Set
The $25 million project has FINALLY reached a point where they can break ground on the complex, and that's exactly what's about to happen.
On October 7th at 4:30 pm, the Rockrose Sports Park will officially break ground, and they will begin construction on the project. It'll be held at the site of the complex, with parking available in the southwest corner of the Cinemark Hollywood 16 parking lot.

Donations Are Still Needed
Now, just because they're breaking ground doesn't mean they're all the way home on the funding for the complex. They are far enough along that they have the funds to start work on it and get a huge chunk of it done.
However, they are still a bit short on the full amount needed, so if they near the end of the project and run out of funds, all that work would be wasted. If you'd like to donate and help finish the funding for it, you can still do so by reaching out to Jimmy Lackey or Haley Bell by calling 806-376-5936.
