Amarillo Welcomes Back Film Festival This October
The arts have always been a part of the fabric of Amarillo. The murals, the live music history, and the performance arts have been something that the city has been able to hang its hat on.
However, the music scene has dissipated in recent years. The murals live on strong, especially with the HOODOO Mural Festival, and performance arts are still big with Amarillo Little Theatre and other places.

Film Is Growing In The City
Having "Yellowstone" film here several years ago was a HUGE lift for Amarillo, and the entire city was excited about that crew being here. Not far away, we have "Landman" filming in the Permian Basin area.
A film studio opened up in Amarillo several years ago, Sharpened Iron Studios, and even though they're embroiled in a bit of a legal battle at the moment, they're pushing ahead and working on films right here in the city.

Amarillo Film Festival Returns
With all of this, the Amarillo Film Society and the Greater Amarillo Film Commission decided to hold the Amarillo Film Festival for the first time last year, and it went over really well. So well in fact, that they've announced plans for this year's event.
The festival will take place October 9-11 at Arts In The Sunset and will feature 62 films from all over the world.
What Can You Expect
A lot of the films you can expect to see will be narrative and documentary-style films, along with some shorts.
There will be films from 11 different Texas cities, as well as films from nine other states. Films from other countries will come from numerous places, with Austria, Canada, Spain, and the United Kingdom being just a few of the locations.
