The future of artificial intelligence will forever be linked to Texas after President Donald Trump announced this week the largest AI infrastructure project in history. The announcement, a joint venture of Open AI, Softbank, and Oracle, has been called Project Stargate.

The $500 billion dollar project will invest in AI infrastructure across the United States and could create over 100,000 jobs across the United States according to President Trump.

And the first location chosen for Project Stargate is right here in Texas.

The First Location of Project Stargate Is Located In Texas

Abilene, Texas was chosen as the first location for the massive AI infrastructure project. According to KTXS, Develop Abilene posted on Facebook, “This historic milestone builds on the successes of the 2021 Development Corporation of Abilene Project “Lancium Clean Campus.”

In fact, the first of the data center is already under construction in Abilene according to KTXS.

"The data centers are actually under construction, the first of them are under construction in Texas," Oracle Executive Chairman, Larry Ellison said. "Each building a half a million square feet. There are 10 buildings currently being built but that will expand to 20 in other locations beyond the Abilene location, which is our first location."

What Is Project Stargate?

The AI Project Stargate is a joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank. Sam Altman of OpenAI called the project "the most important project of this era". The data centers could power artificial intelligence that, according to Larry Ellison of Oracle, could "make it easier to treat illnesses and potentially cancer by developing a customized vaccine."

The larger goal of Project Stargate is to further work on AI with the goal of delivering more tools and services to different industries and communities around the United States.

According to Cities-Today.com, the investment in Abilene could bring more big developments to the city including more talent and investment.
